| The surest way we can honor the memory of those we think of today is for us day by day to continue to receive the gift of life with gratitude and to pass it on with open hands and hearts."
--Rev. Randy Horn, donor father |
The National Donor Family Council was founded in 1992 as the "Home for Donor Families." Comprised of donor family volunteers and professionals, the National Donor Family Council was established to support the needs and expectations of all organ and tissue donor families and to assist the health care professionals who work most closely with these families. The Council works collaboratively with all organizations and encourages support from all members of the healthcare and professional communities.
Through dedicated service to the families of those who gave the gift of life, the Council provides a strong, unified voice in meeting your needs and providing a safe haven as you learn to live without the one you love.
Who is a Donor Family?
"Donor families" are families whose loved ones died and donated their organs and/or tissues; families who would have liked to donate but couldn't due to medical or other reasons; those families who did not donate, but might have if they had been given the opportunity, and living donors. The desire to give is as important as the actual giving.
National Donor Family Council membership is open to all donor families and friends. Health care professionals are invited to join as Council liaisons. Membership is complimentary. |
